Get out of the city and head to one of Ontario's many resort properties and luxury lodges and kick back and enjoy some much needed rest and relaxation away from it all. Here's our cream of the crop with great restaurants on site. Check out our five favourite gourmet resorts.

Elmhirst Resort

This resort rears its own Black Angus Beef cattle so you're not going to get a steak much fresher than in the Elmhirst Resort's dining room. Just 90 minutes east of Toronto, this colony of lakeside cottages is number one on our list of gourmet retreats. Their very own free range chickens promise farm fresh eggs for breakfast and home grown veggies and herbs ensure that the food at Elmhirst is about as fresh as you are ever going to get. After a long day of canoeing or hiking, you'll be ready to fill your boots with gourmet 'farm to table' grub washed down with one of the many wines from Elmhirst's wine cellar.
